Abstract
This paper has a dual purpose. Firstly, it offers an academic reflection that, in panoramic terms, seeks to present the series of challenges posed by the COVID-19 health crisis to move towards social development based on sustainability; secondly, the articles that make up the third number of the Ecocience International Journal are presented, and which make up the some content of the dossier: "Sustainability as a paradigm: complexity, competences and education". The argumentation developed in this introduction to the dossier seeks to invite academic reflection on future lines of research to think about sustainable social development in the post-pandemic, while the looming "new normal" must pose the indisputable need to build a society based on in sustainability and resilience as the main characteristic of social reproduction.
